My Story

I remember the first day I met you. I was 9 years old and wanted a cat so much as I missed Peppi (a beautiful little tuxedo kitten with gold eyes) who had been run over. We went to the Cat Protection Society and found you, a funny little tuxedo cat, only a few months old, thin and needing lots of love. You were so tiny. I loved the little "V" marking on your forehead (white fur on black) and the white love heart shaped fur on your tummy!

You were a wild and crazy little personality; the first thing you did was hide from us behind the washing machine but eventually you got really hungry and we tempted you out with food.

You loved exploring our garden and you were a hunter (and very good at it) so I had to try to keep you from the birds but sometimes I wasn't quick enough.

I have so many fond memories of you - growing up sometimes we all have sad times and you'd be there snuggling me, you wouldn't mind if I wet your fur with my tears. We kept each other warm almost every night and you were so intelligent, you could open almost any door, reaching right up there and pushing on the latch or throwing yourself on it 'til it opened!

Always a very chatty little thing, sometimes you kept me awake with your howling!

You were a faithful friend for 17 years, I couldn't asked for a better cat. You loved to be carried around like a baby, people would always laugh at how relaxed you were stretched out on my lap. You loved people and most of all - the kitchen! Your favourite place, amongst the smell of basil! I think you were Italian in a previous life with your love of Bolognese and Parmesan cheese!! You would always be around at any BBQ doing tricks for prawns (another favourite) - up on your back legs to beg and you'd stretch right up while we all laughed, we couldn't resist feeding you then!

In your old age you were usually found lazing on the deck in the sun or in a pile of fresh laundry. You were arthritic and forgetful but very happy and no one would ever have guessed you'd been mistreated before you were rescued by the Cat Protection Society.

We love and miss you very much, you're in our hearts forever.

R.I.P. Mischief: Beloved friend for many, many years. I hope you're resting peacefully in the wilderness you loved so much. We'll remember and love you always.
